2016 Presidential hopeful Governor Mike Huckabee makes a pit stop in Whitmire to tour the new SEA PRO facility and congratulates them for the positive impact bringing much needed jobs to Newberry County will have on it's economy.
No, it wasn't an election day but it was a "Super Tuesday" for everyone at SEA PRO on September 22nd as 2016 Presidential Candidate, Governor Mike Huckabee jumped off his busy campaign trail for the afternoon and made a very welcomed stop at the new SP headquarters in Whitmire, SC. Joining the former Arkansas Governor were South Carolina State Senators Ronnie Cromer and Walt McCloud as well as Whitmire Mayor Billy Hollingsworth. WACH FOX News crew even tagged along to document the very special occasion.
Needless to say, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Gov Huckabee's amazingly personable and genuine nature just made the whole experience that much more memorable. He went out of his way to meet and speak with each and every employee with a sense of commonality and dignity rarely seen from people of his stature! A true gentlemen and class act!
As he was wrapping up his visit he did promise to come back for a second visit after campaign season so Jimmy & Co. could take him Striper fishing in a new SEA PRO. Of course he couldn't leave without a flash
of his quick wit before making his exit. :-)
Mike "The Striper Ninja" Smedley Signs with SEA PRO
Smedley and Team Old School have the distinct honor of hosting the #1 Striper fishing channel on YouTube! They receive an average of 93,000 unique views every 28 days. Their channel is so popular in fact that if you added up the views of Roland Martin, Bill dance, Kevin Van dam, and Mike Laconelli's channel together, then doubled them, they would still add up to less than half of the views of Team Old School!! The team has been fishing Mike's 2004 SEA PRO bay boat for over 10 years now and have tried their best to beat it into submission to no avail. Mike has received several endorsement offers from other boat manufacturers but knew he couldn't pretend to represent a brand he didn't honestly trust and believe in. When he heard the rumors that SEA PRO was back....he was determined to find a way to join the team.
" When I got the call that SEA PRO was interested in talking to me about an endorsement deal of some kind I drew up a few sketches (since they said they would consider my ideas for a custom model.) After they showed me the new bay boat and it's incredible layout I literally tossed my drawings.... No BS!!!
I'm so proud to announce my partnership with SEA PRO!!! The only thing better than the SICK new boat designs are the PEOPLE at SEA PRO!!! PREPARE TO BE SPEECHLESS!!!" - Mike Smedley

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sea Pro Boats, a renowned brand in the boating industry, is returning to the market with ‘The Next Wave’ – an all new line of bay boats and center console offshore fishing boats. The company is investing $5.5 million in a new Newberry County manufacturing facility, generating 238 new jobs in Whitmire, S.C. Originally founded in 1987, Sea Pro Boats, a Midlands-based company, was purchased by Brunswick Corporation in 2005. Recently, Jimmy Hancock, one of the original owners of Sea Pro, along with Tidewater Boats’ founder Preston Wrenn, decided to relaunch the company, planning an all-new incarnation of the Sea Pro brand – ‘The Next Wave.’ The line will feature seven new models, which are expected to be introduced by the end of this summer. Sea Pro’s new Newberry County facility, a 200,000-square-foot building to be located at 25214 Highway 121 in Whitmire, will house the company’s headquarters, as well as its manufacturing operations.
